It's Puddlin' Time!

Welcome to the first (of three) qualifying rounds to select the finalist for this year's MEAGER PUDDLE OF LIMELIGHT AWARD FOR BEST SHORT STORY TITLE.

What's at stake?  Bragging rights for the winner, as well as an interview and/or guest post here on An Englishman in New Jersey.  If I can figure out how to do it, there'll be a cool Vene, vidi, puddli icon for everyone who entered.

You can vote for as many entries (in each question) as you like in each round. When the dust settles, the eight titles with the most votes from all three qualifying rounds will go through to the final (in the event of a tie, those in joint eighth position will both (or all) go through).

I am confused! Why are there two lists instead of one if both are lists of short stories? And why does the second list not include the genre?

They wouldn't all fit on one LJ poll question (it would only take ten), so I split them.

Not everyone gave me the genre (though there is one title on the the second list which has one.

Hope that clears things up :)

that would be kinda funny - not voting for your own stroy becasue you didn't see it. Well I can be pritty silly sometimes.

I confess one reason I voted for A Box of Cows is I read the genre as "udder fantasy"

No, no! It's a good title. I just look for puns, even when they aren't there.

I do the same thing. Frequently, I mention them out load. Folks give me very strange looks and move away from the crazy lady.

I liked the title too.
