Woohoo! Today is the start of SOYFI Week!

When it comes to icons, I’m not the most adventurous chap. I’ve stuck with the same flag and headshot from my Yahoo avatar since I first set up this blog back in October ’08.
I have my reasons for not changing mine (not least of which is that it takes off twenty pounds AND twenty years), but that’s not to say I don’t enjoy some of the fantastic creations I’ve seen on my friends’ pages.
With that in mind, I’ve decided that here on An Englishman in New Jersey today is the start of SOYFI Week (Show off Your Favorite Icon Week).
Here’s how it works:
Just post your favorite icon (or two icons if you prefer) in a comment below and I’ll upload them into this entry for other folks to admire.
This event lasts all week, so if you’re feeling creative, why not have a bash at creating your own? Also, if anyone knows of a good website/journal entry where folks can go to learn how to make an icon, please let me know and I’ll post a link to it here.

ETA: a_r_williams suggests the following possible sources for icon creation:

Adobe Photoshop ( which has some high and low price point software ), Adobe Illustrator, Gimp ( freeware ), and Inkscape ( freeware ).
Have fun!

Another... it says:

"She was comforted by the knowledge that they were helpless without her."

I have the actual post-its, found the pic online (so hard!!) then just used LJ to make an icon. Nothing fancy but it's also very 'me'. Though very ironic in the end b/c I was laid-off... though I still hear stories of how they don't know how to do stuff without me. :) Or have a few people call me to ask how I did something. And I help b/c it's not their fault my work was shoved on their plate b/c management was stupid. (Sorry... I've wanted to say that for 6 months and I know none of my ex-coworkers are friends with you... phew! I feel better.)

Who knew LJ could be so cathartic? if you don't mind, though, I'll just use your first two icons :)

Use whatever you'd like!! In fact, feel free to go through my icons... just don't steal the ones that are actually me. ;) Course, who would want this one?

(Halloween, work, the IT dept was superheroes that I made up... course, we totally are.)
