Which Cons will you attend this year?

First thing Friday morning, I nipped down to the post office to mail my registration for the Write Stuff Conference  – In  Allentown, PA (March 25-27).

This will be my third year there. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I’ll be among those lucky enough to register in time for the two-day, pre-conference workshop, How to Plot Like The Pros, with James N. Frey (How To Write a Damn Good Novel).

For the main event, which starts on the Friday evening and finishes the next day at around 5:00pm, I hope to get a place on Page Cuts, in which the anonymous first page of your WIP is read aloud then critiqued by a panel of industry professionals, and a two-hour workshop, Start a Fire on Page One, with Bill Kent.

There are plenty of other things going on (see
here for the conference web-page – scroll down for the ‘Conference at a glance’ section), including workshops, agent/editor appointments and the annual 100-word fiction/non-fiction/poetry contests, but the main attraction for me is the people.

Last year, I’d say about 150 writers attended. Everyone was friendly. I felt like I was at a happy event with distant relatives (without the bickering and family feuds).

If I could only pick one con to attend this year, The Write Stuff would be it (lucky for me, I don’t have to. Come November, I’ll be at PhilCon).

How about you?

Which cons do you plan to attend this year?

ETA: (which, thanks to jimhines, I now know means "Edited to add")  Does anyone know of a site where folks can find info about writing conventions?
