Rotten Agent Appreciation Day

Just to clarify, this isn't about appreciating rotten agents (who don't deserve their own special day), it's about how seeing all these delightful, inspiring posts from so many of my author friends reminds me how much I would like to be able to join in.

NOTE TO SELF:
Get representation from a great literary agent for Waking up Jack Thunder before December 11 2010.

There. I feel better already. Time to get back to work

Getting an agent is like having a new love. Wonder what they're doing? It's been three weeks, why haven't they called? They said they wanted me. They said it had never been like this with anyone else...I won't pick up the phone, I won't!

: ) Good luck with your search.

Thanks :)

I'd be more frustrated if I was actually looking, but the book's still at beta-reader stage at present, so I haven't officially started yet ;)

Hope you're able to check that off your to-do list sooner rather than later!

I know! I'm so bummed I don't have an agent to appreciate. I wonder if I can adopt one for the day. Hmm...

Next year on Agent Appreciation Day you will have an agent to appreciate. You will, I can tell.

I hope so, but if not, I'll just have to work harder at getting better :)

Re: agent gubbs!
Lol, they have agent boards? :)

I wonder if that's the next trend - vanity agenting. You pay money up fromt to be an agent so you can pitch your own work to publishers ;)

GOOD LUCK finding an agent. (I'm excited for you!) Keep us posted on the process. I'll be looking next year as well..I think..if this novel is worthy... :)

Okay, I know you read Maggie's blog on goals. You need to reword your goal. Tsk. Tsk. Make your goal something you can control . . . unless you plan on kidnapping an agent.

Ah, but we should always have the big, seemingly unachievable, long term goal on the horizon. All those little (doable with a little work) goals inbetween are how we get there.

That's very true, and if I may say so, a very 'glass is half full' way of looking at things.

I like it :)

Good luck with finding an agent.

Personally I take care these days to only set my self goals that are achievable by my own efforts, such as "complete at least one more novel." Being taken on by an agent is actually out of one's control and many deserving novels and writers are failing to find representation, especially at the moment.

Fair points all, but we have to have a dream, right?
