Yay! It’s SAFE FYB week.

It’s the time of year for goodwill to all etc. With that in mind, I’ve decided to start a new December tradition. I’m calling it SAFE FYB week (share a favorite entry from your blog week).

Here’s how it works:

Of all the journal entries you’ve made this year, do you have a favorite? Would you like to share it? If so, send me the title, together with the link and I’ll post those details here on my blog for all my other friends to see. It doesn’t matter what the post is about. If you’re proud of it, that’s good enough for me.

To start things off, here’s my entry from the 8th of August:

Have fun looking back through your posts to select a favorite to share, but don’t forget to send me the link when you find it. I’m looking forward to reading your selections.

On an unrelated note
It's the weirdest thing, but lately when some people comment on my journal, I don't get an email telling me, even though I've always got them when those same people commented before. If anyone has any thoughts on why that might be, I'd appreciate hearing them.
UPDATE: Definitely not getting notified about most comments now. very peculiar. I'll see if I can figure out what's happening, but in the meantime, I'll keep checking the actual posts to make sure I don't miss anything.

Hahahaha! I loved that post.

None of my own to offer at the moment, but I'll check back here later to see what others offer. :)

Excellent idea! Sadly, my best posts are all from the early part of last year. I seem to have lost my mojo a little after that...

I doubt that, but if you've a pre '09 favorite by all means use that one :)

Heh, I wish :)

So which one will you select from your repertoire?

By the by, for some reason,LJ never told me you'd commented, although I used to get messages when you posted :(

Hey, Jon! What a great idea - and very generous of you. But - may I rec two of mine? I am torn between my book review (title: The Fallacy of the Likable Protagonist) and my review of the recent Trek movie. Since yours is a writer's journal, I suppose the book review might be more relevant, but I like the movie review, too. What do you think?

I gotta go with the silly. I still crack up on the "How Pumpkin Pies are Made" post of last week. If you want non-writerly, silly stuff, feel free. Otherwise, s'okay!

And ack about the not getting the email on comments. I've never thought about that, and certainly haven't ever checked, but tend to rely on the emails.

In the event you actually get this, I finally decided. It was probably the hardest entry I ever made. It took me a long time to actually click on the post clicky that day. I figure it deserves another shove into the light, eh?

You are a ROCK STAR!! What a great idea. Most of my blogs contain meandering prattling. Every now and then I stick to one point. 'Not Knowing' was one of the rare blogs. I visit it on days when self-doubt nips at me.

Read your rejection letter. Thought it was for real then got to the part about crossing out the name.

Then, I thought, "Oh, maybe this was when he first started writing."

Then I read the part about the crimson ink and thought, "That's weird. I thought this guy was smarter than that."

Wasn't until I got to the 'b/c your office is in California' part that I figured it had to be a joke.

Funny. :-)

Thank you :)

The sad fact is, my actual first query letter really wasn't so much better than my fictitious one: http://jongibbs.livejournal.com/23770.html

So, which of your posts do you plan to share for SAFE FYB week?

Great post by the way. Thanks for sharing :)
