As Senior Management would be the first to tell you, I’m a hopeless romantic. I’ve seen The Shop Around the Corner (with James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan) more times than a manly man would admit to, and though I feign indifference, I get choked up every time I see the last five minutes of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in An Affair to Remember.

That said, neither compares to the brilliance that, in my opinion at least, is the best on-screen wedding scene ever!

At first glance Ming and Dale (Max von Sydow and Melody Anderson) may not look like the perfect match, but there's no denying the chemistry - even if it is 3 parts contempt to 9 parts loathing.

How about you?

What’s your favorite romantical movie moment?

I am not ashamed to admit that I own that Flash Gordon DVD. What a fun movie!

I consider Shakespeare in Love to be one of the most romantic movies I know.

Flash has some great lines eg;"Flash I love you, but we only have 24 hours to save the earth".

I thoroughly enjoyed Shakespeare in Love, in particular the grumpy priest who accidentally gets dragged in to see the show and gets caught up in the emotion of it all :)

My daughter's wedding-theme was Shakespeare in Love. On the cake, the words, "I will have poetry in my life. And adventure. And love. Love above all." With a pen and quill instead of a bride and groom topper.
When my son-in-law proposed, he was in a costume replica of the blue outfit Wills wore in the movie. He had to put off proposing for a month because the costume hadn't come in!

Oh wow! Sounds like your daughter found a good one!

Shakespeare in Love came out after we'd already been married, but I felt lucky in that my husband seemed to like the movie as much as I did. He'll watch Emma and Pride and Prejudice with me too. ;-) Of the two of us, he's actually more romantic than I am.

'When my son-in-law proposed, he was in a costume replica of the blue outfit Wills wore in the movie.'

Now that's romantic :)
