A change of plan

I had to take one of my teenage daughters to see the doctor this morning.  I'm not sure what's wrong with her, but she's definitely a little under the weather.

One of the many downsides of being severely autistic is that she can't tell anyone what hurts or where.  It took a good ten minutes to get her to allow someone to check her inner-ear.

The Doc wants a urine and blood sample.  For the blood sample, I'll have to literally hold Rachel down while they get the needle in her arm.  Never fun for either of us.  She was already stressed from the ear inspection so I've put that off until Thursday - hopefully she'll get better over the next day or so and won't need it.

As for the urine sample, let's just say I'd gladly swap places with that kid who got the T-Rex pee in the third Jurassic park movie and leave it at that.

Since Rachel clearly wants an afternoon of snuggling up on the couch, watching Disney movies with her dear old dad, the latest installment of The Fine Art of Self-Promotion will have to wait for another day.  On a brighter note, no doubt inspired by all the chat about steak & kidney pie in my last post, Senior Management made a batch of her world famous sausage rolls yesterday.  Yum!

I hope your Monday's going well.

It sounds like a brutal day. I suppose the only consolation would be that if today didn't make you drown your sorrows, you'll most likely never be alcoholic.

Hope it's good Disney.

Those sorts of tests are no fun for anyone. Poor Rachel.

I kind of feel sorry for the doctor too. Fortunately, Rachel seems much better now :)

I can fully imagine your day. May the snuggles and dvd time ease Rachel's anxiety, and I hope she's better very soon.

Thanks. Luckilly, she's much improved, so we won't the blood (or urine test) after all :)

Sounds like a tough day. It's really bad to have to coerce your child into something involving strange doctors they don't understand. I hope she gets well all by herself, and quick.

And btw. what do you need steak and kidney pie for when you have sausage rolls?!?

Thanks, Jakob :)

As for sausage rolls, I'll have to include them on next Ruler of the World list :)

Oh dear. That's certainly a valid reason for changing plans. Hope she gets better soon.
