Thanks a lot. The links are very much interesting and of a great help, as usual.

Sometimes when reading information I can get from the Internet (regarding publishing) I begin thinking about the competition among writers. And after some time I feel frightened. :(

Do you think I feel the right feeling? :)

Do you mean the sheer number of writers vying for publishing contracts, agents etc. or do you mean when writers compare themselves to others?

If it's the former, I think all any of us can do is our very best (and keep working on improving/honing our craft. If it's the latter, I'd say it's good to check out what successful writers do (and did), but only in a What can I learn here? way.

I meant both cases. It's difficult for writers from other countries to understand the situation here. (I am sure they have enough their own problems :)) ) Everything I read in most live journals (regarding writing and publishing) is of a great interest for me. But it is quite different from the realities here. So it is naturally that I have some kind of fear stepping on such a complicated way of writing SF books for the propose, say, of trying to get them published somewhere.

SF books are hardly published in the country where I live. And this situation isn't going to change in the near future. I think it won't change at all.

Every country has its own writers. And there is no doubt that it will be difficult (to put it mildly) to get my books published somewhere.

Another way of looking at it is: When I get my books published, I'll be among the few SF writers in my country. It's going to be amazing! :)
