The Meager Puddle of Limelight Award for Best Book Title: short list selection (by secret vote)

There were a lot of entries for the Meager Puddle of Limelight Awards for Best Book Title . I’d like to narrow them down so that the top eight can go through to the final round (I’ll do the same for Best Short Story Title – I only have seven entries for Best Flash Fiction Title, so there’s no need for a preliminary round there).

Here’s how it works.

Imagine you’re wandering around your local bookstore, and all you can see of these books is the spine. Would any of the titles make you want to know more (if it helps, pretend the genre is one you like)?

Poll #1453973 PUDDLE AWARD FOR BEST BOOK TITLE: Short list ballot
This poll is closed.

From the following list, select up to three book titles which you think should progress to the final poll (maximum three), and write the corresponding letters in the box below eg: If you like Alien Bonds, Bag of Tricks and Barillia Underground best, insert ‘A,B,C.’

A: Alien Bonds (science fiction)

B: Bag of Tricks (YA fantasy )

C: Barillia Underground (YA science fiction)

D: City of Shadows (urban fantasy)

E: The Condottiere (historical fantasy)

F: Dangerous Dances (urban fantasy)

G: Demonhead (urban fantasy)

H: Echoes of Truth (fantasy)

I: Greasing the Pan (humor)

J: Illecebra (urban fantasy)

K: Letters to Santa – a little bit of magic (YA chick lit)

L: Lost Days (post-apocalyptic)

M: Max (science fiction)

N: Mists of Memory (fantasy)

O: The Savage Pen of Onan (humor)

P: Saya (science fiction/paranormal)

Q: Scars on the Face of God (paranormal/horror novel)

R: Shades of Myth (fantasy)

S: The Shadows One Walks (fantasy)

T: The Sour Aftertaste of Olive Lemon (surreal theater)

U: The Substance of Shadows (fantasy)

V: Theatre of Curious Acts (dark fantasy)

W: Turn of the Sentry (urban fantasy)

X: Turnabout (YA science fiction)

Y: When Balloon Animals Attack (MG adventure/fantasy)
Z: The Winter the Troll Danced With Old Nick (fantasy)

The eight titles with the most votes will go through to the final round. In the case of a tie, those in joint eighth position will both (or all) go through to the final.

Voting is secret - only I can see them, and I promise to close my eyes when I'm reading them .
Sorry, but you must have an LJ account to vote.

Thanks for taking part.

This poll will close on Saturday, September 12 at 11:59pm (US/Eastern).

Apologies to everyone who voted in the original version of this poll (posted earlier today but now deleted).  I mucked this up on the first attempt.  I couldn't figure out how to change the 'view results' option so that people could vote in secret, so I decided the best thing was to start over.
