How was your weekend?

I had a hoot and a half at NJ SCBWI's Fall Craft Weekend. Great food, excellent company, and lots of learning.

The peer critiques and agent/editor feedback I received on the first fifteen pages of Abraham Lincoln Stole my Homework were helpful and extremely encouraging.

All the lectures I attended were informative. By far the best (for me) was Laurie Calkhoven's marvelous talk on scene structure. I left there with a far better understanding of how to write scenes gooder.

Although I've been a member since 2010, this was my first SCBWI event. It certainly won't be my last.

How about you?

You ~do~ mean your weekend,
and not the event Jon was at?

Yes, because Jon asked "How was your weekend?" so I answered the question. He didn't ask what I thought of his weekend. (Which still would have rated better than mine, even if he'd described a horrible time at the event.)

Since sleeping through the weekend is bad, is the context you being sick?

Yes. But even if you aren't sick, I tend to think that sleeping for more than 24 hours of a 48 hour period is usually not a great thing.

Hmmm...
Weekend?

That was just a few days ago, wasn't it?

I think I finished up a denim dress,
made from 99-cent Goodwill jeans.
And I watched two good movies.
  1. Union Pacific
  2. Monsieur Vincent

Ilearned that a lot of books writt e n lately, with both vampire and slayer, have them as flip sides of the same coin. And Kindle Fire sucks at keyboarding with my pudgy fingers.

'And Kindle Fire sucks at keyboarding ...'

I thought you can enlarge the screen image on those things, or is that not an option with the keyboard?

I was grading midterms, made it to the gym Sunday morning, was reading in a collection of slave narratives, and had a Chinese tutoring session.

Well, Chinese is officially classified by the CIA training manuels as a "difficult" language.

I went to my first SCBWI conference this year too, despite having been a member for years. It was great. Why did I wait so long???
