As of this morning, I have three writing projects on the front burner:
First and foremost, of course, is the imminent publication of Barnum's Revenge, the second book featuring young Bill Euston, and Snowy, the talking cat only he can hear. I've got more ' I are a writer! ' pens and some 'Cats rule, dogs drool!' bumper stickers on order, as well as some (I hope) exciting promotions to go along with the launch.
The second project is another middle grade novel, Abraham Lincoln Stole my Homework. The initial draft is in the can, as it were. I made a minor(ish) change during the last few chapters which requires a return research visit to Gettysburg sometime in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I'm leaving the ms to
I have a rough outline for the third Snowy book, but I'm putting that on hold for a couple of months to focus on my science thriller, Waking up Jack Thunder.
I hadn't really looked at it since the end of 2010, when I successfuly applied for one of those first chapter public critique sessions at a conference. Most of the feedback was positive to very positive, but one particular chap (with way better credentials than what I have) used his five minute review time to deliver a rather sneering critique. I'm ashamed to say I let the negative exterminate the positive on that day, and put WuJT in the old trunk for a while.
I came across the first draft last week. I've been reading it. I'd forgotten how much I love this book.
How about you?
What are you working on at the moment?
