This next one’s not even loosely connected to writing, but what the heck, the first video made me LOL, out loud.

Slush Stats [info]jmeadows
[I was in two minds about posting this one, because I suggested the topic, but I think it’s an important issue]

If you have a particular favorite among these, please let the author know (and me too, if you have time). Also, if you've a link to a great post that isn't here, feel free to share.

The slush stats is interesting. I'd send a query about my current WIP, but a) I've not written a query since I was 14, and then I just sent letters, and I have no idea how to go about it yet, and b) it seems kinda rude to just butt in on someone's offer like that... :-S

How long is a query? Is it just a case of "I'm writing an urban fantasy set in current day London. It has elements of history around the 1660s, features demons, spirits of buildings, nymphs of the lost rivers under London, and a fight for the city." Or is it like a cover letter or synopsis? I really haven't gotten this far into the process yet... *wry grin*

If you check Jodi's latest post, there's a seperate query letter thingy coming up, starting Monday. here's the link. http://misssnarksfirstvictim.blogspot.com/2009/07/our-very-first-query-contest.html

What's happening with the cat?

I shall keep an eye on the query letter thing, to see what other people post. It's not open to me, as obviously I'm not finished with the WIP yet - not even finished first draft, let alone a polished MS suitable for sending out and querying with yet - but it'll be interesting to see how other people write these sorts of things.

Haven't seen cat for a couple of days. I'm still debating what to do. I'm thinking just contacting Cats Protection or the RSPCA and voicing a concern about him...

Don't know if you saw my comment on you blog the other day, but we had a similar situation with a neighbor's cat back in '03.

The weird thing was, the owners were perfectly nice, friendly people, yet they just seemed to have decided to let their cat starve to death.
