I'm trying to get myself better organized so I can write two books a year.

I won't officially begin the first draft of my next middle grade project, Abraham Lincoln Stole My Homework, until January 1st (by which time I should have just about finished work on the sequel to Fur-Face), but I knew I'd be spending anything up to a couple of hours in the waiting room while my car got its regular service this morning, so I took a notepad with me and started work on a mindmap for it.

After ALSMHDead Doris is next on my list. If I finish both in 2012, I'll reward myself by giving Waking up Jack Thunder the shave and haircut it needs to get it submission ready.

If all goes according to plan, in January 2013, I expect to start work on the (as yet untitled) third book featuring Snowy and the Euston family.

How about you?

What project(s) are you planning to work on next year?

I love the titles of your projects.

I'm hoping very much to be in the querying stage of And the Stars Shall Lead Me Home early next year.

After that, I want to edit Visitors from Heaven and then finish and edit Trolls in the Hood.

I like that Trolls in the Hood title :)

I have no idea, but I like your goals. Dead Doris sounds like such a great name and I can't wait for more Snowy.

Thanks, Amanda. I'm having great fun working with Snowy and the resr of the cast in Barnum's Revenge :)

I'm like you, I have to buckle down. I've got another novella coming out (hopefully) beginning of February, and with any luck, two more in June and October. They're small and I've refined my writing process. I've got the out line for the 4th done, and am working on the first draft of the 3rd.

Sounds like you've got a busy year ahead :)

I'm contracted for book 4 of my Urban Wolf series, so that will be my summer project. Around that, I've got a looooooooong list of things I'd like to write, but I have no idea how many I'll actually get to!

Hoping to get to the UK to visit a man that is associated with a WW2 US Air Corp base at Kimbolton where my father was stationed as a pilot. Hoping to interview him about how the base changed over the years. Maybe take the train to Cologne and blog about that too.

  2. Another 50,000 words to complete Shining in a Squalid Place.
  3. Find a publisher for Brothers, Keepers, Losers, Weepers.

Re: You mean besides receivig the Nobel Prize?
I wish you success on all three counts :)

I intend to finish the current novel, The Russian House, and get it into a shape to send my agent in time for Eastercon.

Then I will start another novel. Unless someone pays me not to.

At the same time I intend to get at least two unpublished novels into a state to be self published.

If I have any spare time I want to write a radio play, get back to my roots.

Writing a radio play sounds like fun :)

Good luck with your projects!

I'm going to write 4 or 5 short stories, finish the revisions of a YA fantasy, and do the outline and first draft of another YA fantasy.

I may try a couple of 100-word drabbles, but short stories are pretty much beyond me, I think :)

I'm going to get Beyond the Gate into publishing shape by the end of March, then I get to start on something brand spanking new! Not sure if I'm going to do Ritual Born, of the YA idea I had about three wishes...

Sounds like a plan to me :)

Sounds like you've got some great projects going, Jon. I don't know exactly what I'll be working on in 2012 because I'm starting an MFA program in January. However, I do have a copyediting textbook to write for my class, which needs to be done before next fall, and I have a YA novel that I'm plugging away on.
Nov. 24th, 2011 11:43 am (UTC)
Best of luck, Katherine :)

Completely unrelated to writing, I intend to give myself the rest of 2011 to get set up, then in 2012 start selling steampunk and other assorted jewellery on Etsy.

And write more. I've asked Santa for extra time for Christmas.
Nov. 24th, 2011 03:38 pm (UTC)
Good luck with Santa :)

If I haven't finished the first draft by Christmas (my present goal), I will be working on completing A Drive of Dragons. I'll also continue querying Honor with the aim of getting it published, and may start working on my third novel.
Nov. 25th, 2011 02:45 pm (UTC)
Sounds good to me :)
Nov. 25th, 2011 06:28 am (UTC)
Hahahaha... umm... where to start.
Well, I'm going to be editing and submitting and hopefully doing more editing on the Sequel to Senior Year Bites. I'm going to be editing Nightmare and submitting it to agents. I'm going to be finishing the first in an epic fantasy trilogy and after letting it sit, editing it. I will write the final Senior Year Bites (of the trilogy) book. I hope to write and publish a few more novellas and maybe do an anthology with my small press. I'm sure there are other things I'll fit in there too... I'll probably start on the second of the epic fantasy trilogy at the end of the year too.

Busy, busy, busy :)
