Fun, fun, fun!

My dance card for November's pretty full. Here's a list of some interesting writerly-type events I have lined up over the next few weeks.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5th (11:30pm - 3:00pm)
Jackson Library's BOOK FAIR, 2 Jackson Drive, Jackson, NJ 08527

Lots of authors, lots of books. What more could you ask for?

NJAN members attending: Danielle Ackley-McPhail; Karen Bostrom; John DeJesus; Walt Ecklof; Alice ‘JB’ Dinizo; Mickey Flagg; Jon Gibbs; Jim ‘JJ’ Lair; Jeff Markowitz; Mike McPhail; Caridad Pineiro; Michael Rushnak and MaryKate Schweiger

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9th (7:30pm)
Long Hill Library, 917 Valley Rd, Gillette, NJ 07933

10 THINGS EVERY WRITER SHOULD KNOW

Join me for a fun, interactive presentation about some of the important things which, if acted upon, I believe can drastically shorten the time it takes for writers to get accepted for publication.

Plus, there may be candy

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12th (10:00am)
Edison Library, 340 Plainfield Avenue, Edison, NJ 08817
Liberty State Fiction Writers: regular meeting
After the main meeting (at around noon), I'll be running a roundtable discussion: How not to promote yourself and your work.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12th (3:00pm)
Somerville Library, 35 West End Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876

NJAN PANEL/Q&A: GETTING PUBLISHED
Featuring: Jon Gibbs (moderator); Walt Ecklof; John Grant; Jeff Markowitz; Bill Mingin & Chris Redding

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15th & WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16th
FUN WITH FICTION at Lakehurst Elementary School

At the school assemblies I addressed last month, the principal introduced me as 'Our Author in Residence' which sounds very impressive :)

I'm starting off my teaching sessions with 'Creating Colorful Characters', the first module from my school, Fun with Fiction program. I'm really looking forward to this :)

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16th (7:00pm)
Ocean County Library (Tom's River Branch), 101 Washington St, Toms River, NJ 08753
NJAN PANEL/Q&A: THE NUTS & BOLTS OF WRITING A BOOK

NJAN panels are always a hoot-and-a-half.
Featuring: Jon Gibbs (moderator); Alice 'JB' DiNizo; Wallace Ecklof & Michael Rushnak

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19th (noon - 5:00pm)
A CARNIVAL OF AUTHORS
Annie's
Book Stop of Worcester, 65 James Street, Worcester, MA 01603

Featuring: Jon Gibbs; Terri-Lynne DeFino (aka bogwitch64); Greg Fishbone; Gavin Grant & Kelly Link
I'd describe this as a cross between a mini-writing conference and a talent show.
We've prepared a rolling program of 10-minute workshops by individual presenters, followed by 5-minute Q&As. Once everyone's had their turn at the mike, we'll have a bit of a break for coffee and a chinwag before starting again on different writerly subjects.

If you can't make the Saturday, there's a similar event on the Sunday (11:30am - 3:00pm), this time featuring: Ellen Meeropol; Fran Grote and Kerri Schoonover

Watch this space for more details!

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26th (10:00am)
Palmer Library (3 Weller Place. P.O. Box 3039. Palmer, PA 18043)
THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY WRITING GROUP (GLVWG): regular meeting
see group website for details about speakers etc.
This month's speaker is comedy writer, Ryan Sartor.

If you're taking part in something yourself over the next few weeks, feel free to leave a comment (and link too please).

You never know who's reading.

Thanks, Mark. Given the layout in the a lot of book stores Especially the smaller, independent ones, a regular panel/Q&A isn't practical, so we had to come up with something a little different.

If it works, I'd like to use a similar model at other book store events.

OMG! You're actually exiting the border of New Jersey for some appearances! /faint

lol. Just kidding, but it's the first time I've looked that I saw you entering the strange new worlds of both Massachusetts and of Pennsylvania.

I figured, why should New Jerseyians be the only ones to suffer? :)

Thanks, the layout makes a traditional panel/Q&A event impractical, so we've been having fun coming up with a different approach.

Yeah I know, local bookstores don't really have a big enough space to do things like that normaly. Although I do have a freind with a bookstore and he does have a rather large space in the back.
