What happened to the trick or treaters?

I don't know if it was the snow, the Danger: Low flying witches! traffic sign in the front yard, or the life-size cardboard cutout of my old gran (wearing her 'Touch that remote control and I'll bite yer fingers off!' expression). Whatever the cause, only a handful of trick or treaters made it to our front door last night.

*sigh* I guess I'll have to eat all that candy myself now.

How about you?

How was your Hallowe'en?

Or you could give out the candy tonight at your panel. . .

*evil grin*

Our Hallowe'en was boring. Neither of us was feeling well, so we just stayed in.

Lol, that's not a bad idea :)

I was at a friend's house and we had many. Of course, we don't have snow on the ground...I think it was about 60 or 70 outside.

We had snow, but not enough to block the path or anything. Where I live in NJ, it was a case of quickly shovelling the drive before the snow all melted ;)

One lot of trick or treaters, who were ignored since I didn't have anything to give them. I spent my Halloween listening to my favourite bands on Spotify and working on edits for my next novella.

What's the Halloween equivalent of 'Bah, humbug!'? ;)

We're not really a kid-friendly house. I'm scared of people under the age of sixteen. And over the age of sixteen. And...well. We're not really a people-friendly house...

Lol, that would explain the bear trap under the ffront doorbell :)

We didn't get very many either. Not another knock after eight. It was quiet this year.

I wonder if it's just that local kids are getting too old in our area.
Nov. 1st, 2011 03:12 pm (UTC)
We had a good number...gave away about 8 bags of "snack-sized" chocolates...
Nov. 1st, 2011 04:40 pm (UTC)
A couple of years ago, we must have gotten at least thirty or forty different groups.

We survived our Halloween with minimal drama. (No small feat with a teenager in the house.)

That's one popular pic, because it apparently has reached it's maximum views. ;-)

Interesting. I didn't know they had a maximum.
Nov. 1st, 2011 04:23 pm (UTC)
We also only got a handful of trick or treaters. I had to bring a whole bunch of candy to work today just to get it out of my house ;-D

Lol, next year, buy the really good stuff. That way, if there's any left over, you won't have tp take it to work :)

Very quiet this year. We had about three before eight and one after nine and that was it. This was despite no snow and a warm evening. We didn't get candy this year as the turnout was so poor last year. This year was even worse. I don't think there are many kids living on our block anymore.

I'm sure the snow (and the fact that it was Monday) didn't help, but I must say, I expected more kids.

I went to my allergist and had tests.

At least today is half-priced leftover candy day.
Nov. 1st, 2011 06:50 pm (UTC)
Hehe, it is at that :)
Nov. 1st, 2011 10:28 pm (UTC)
We got none. And we bought the big candy bars, too.
Nov. 2nd, 2011 11:40 am (UTC)
I hope you can find a good home for all that candy :)
Nov. 2nd, 2011 09:44 pm (UTC)
We're trying!

It's a tasty job, but somebody's got to do it :)

I'd imagine the snow could have done it. Just not trick-or-treat weather! Where are the colorful leaves?

We had about sixty kids, which doesn't seem like much compared to where I used to live. (Houses too spread out for the kids to make it all around.) But it was a good Halloween in the Midwest! Gold and orange trees, leaves blowing, mild air. I hope you get a taste of fall again soon!

Thanks, Pat. It's supposed to warm up a bit during the week.

I had a respectable number of trick or treaters. I also gave up around one hundred spare pencils I'd accumulated, all of which were appreciated by the young goats, who said they needed them for school. This was, of course, in addition to a bit of candy. Wore my cat ears and kitty vest. That was the closest approximation to seasonal garb, though I did have my skull collection nearby.

'...though I did have my skull collection nearby'

Is that the one created from previous years' trick-or-treaters? ;)

Nov. 3rd, 2011 11:30 am (UTC)
Not if previous trick or treaters numbered a Russ ceramic candle holder as their skull of choice. I've never even seen an infant with a skull that diminutive in general style. Also on a rubber goblet, a plastic wineglass (this year's contribution), made up as a house, a pencil topper, earrings (with the entire skeleton), and so forth.
