The other day, someone asked me why, whenever I interview someone, I always end with the question 'Who do you think would win in a fight, astronauts or cavemen?'

As any true Joss Whedon fan could teIl you, I took the question from an episode of Joss Whedon's excellent TV show, Angel, in which the main characters carry on a running (often heated) debate as to who would win.

So why do I use it so often? Partly because it's a light-hearted way to end an interview, but mostly because I think it gives whoever's in the spotlight a great opportunity to leave the reader with a smile.

To date, I've seen dozens of answers, all of them different. Opinions vary as to which faction would emerge victorious, so I thought it was about time we settled the question once and for all.

So how about you?

Who do you think would win in a fight, astronauts or cavemen?
Feel free to elaborate on your decision in the comments

Without some sort of external source of power, astronauts are cavemen.

I seem to recall an episode of Twilight Zone ending in just that fashion :)

Astronauts, because they'll bring a gun.

Just a thought, but why would astronauts have guns?

It would depend where the fight was. If on ground, then the caveman would have the advantage of brawn. In space the victory would go to the astronaught as the caveman would be a pile of terrified floating goo.

Astronauts are totally going to win. I know this because I've met one. And he looked like he could completely whoop up on a caveman. To be fair, I've never met a caveman... but I think there's a reason for that. Astronauts go in space! Cavemen go in caves! There is no comparison here... Astronauts all the way!!

The question you need to ask yourself is: Who could make peace between the astronauts and cavemen. Just saying...
