What moments have you savored lately?
Back in the summer of 2010, Jim C. Hines (aka
jimhines), was kind enough to have me as a guest on his excellent blog. The post I wrote was called 'Savor the Moments'. That day, I shared why I think it's important to find things to celebrate as we work towards our long term goals. Not just the 'Woohoo! I sold a novel' kind, though of course we love those too, but also the 'This is why I love writing:' kind.Yesterday, I got to savor a couple of great writerly moments. The first came when I received an email from a couple who'd bought Fur-Face for their granddaughter last month. Here's what they said:
'Morning Jon,
We recently purchased Fur-Face for our 9 year old grand daughter,[name removed], at the Hammonton Pinelands show at Frog Rock Country Club. I just wanted to let you know how much she enjoyed reading your book! Her teachers said she told them every detail of the book and had everyone enthralled by it. When my daughter went for her school conference they told her the book made a real impact on her. She also loves the mug! Just wanted to thank you for your wonderful work.
We will be looking for your other books for her to read.

If that wasn't reason enough to celebrate, later in the day I submitted Barnum's Revenge to my publisher (Echelon Press).
I are a very happy writer.
