How do you answer the question ‘What do you write?’

I met some people the other day and, as tends to happen, they asked me what I do. I told them I was a writer (albeit a part-time one). After the usual ‘Would I have heard of you?’ question, they asked me what kind of fiction I write.
You’d think it’d be easy to answer, but I never know what to say.

Sure, Fur-Face is a middle grade fantasy, but I also write science fiction, horror, something I like to call ‘medieval' science fiction, regular fiction and even, if you count last year’s
Wild West Justice
, the odd western.
Like most writers, I cover a multitude of genres, but if you list them all you either sound pretentious or send the poor soul who asked the question into a bored trance.
I ended up mumbling something along the lines of ‘All sorts of stuff, you know.’

I confess I felt quite self-conscious. I definitely need to come up with a better answer.
How about you?
