Creative Visualization

Yesterday I did something I haven’t done in years – and I’m not talking about buying a hairbrush

Inspired by my friend [info]catephoenix, who put up a trailer for one of her short stories the other day, I recorded some music for one I made for my, as yet unpublished, YA novel, Fur-Face.

For about fifteen years before we moved here, I was the lead singer in a rock band, Gentleman Jones. All part time, and without commercial success of course, but we had a lot of laughs and recorded several albums. When we moved here five years ago, I made a conscious decision to focus on my writing, so I’ve done very little on the music front, until yesterday.  I told myself it was okay, because the music was writing related – a form of creative visualization if you will.

Oddly enough, it really did get me fired up about writing, which got me thinking.

What techniques do you guys use to motivate yourselves about your work?
