Star Wars, Firefly and Yorkshire accents

Inspired by this footage of David Prowse (the man in the Darth Vader suit): my son and I had great fun quoting lines from Firefly and Star Wars to each other in different accents. We tried Cockney (a la Michael Caine), Birmingham, Manchester and my personal favorite, Yorkshire.

Time well spent :)

My son and I share the same silly sense of humor - much to the dismay of Senior Management ;)

There is a reason James Earl Jones' nickname is The Voice. But if Jones had played the part in person, they would have probably still had to dub it because that helmet was a real sound baffle.

Fun to hear Darth Vader "in person," though. :)

Too bad I can't hear it (speaker problems, namely, wire still missing). It sounds like fun. You probably had more fun with the quips, though, lmao.

I remember feeling sorry for him, because he really thought they wanted him to do the voice AND the physical work :)

It's especially strange to listen to that clip since I'm trained to hear James Earl Jones speaking instead. It's like that recent footage from Back to the Future, with another fellow playing Marty McFly and saying the exact same lines as Michael J. Fox. It just wasn't right.

I met David Prowse in person. His accent is really quite pleasant.

His accent is really quite pleasant.

It is, but it's not quite the dark, menacing tones you expect from Mr. Vader :)

We had this conversation at work a couple of months back and now any expression of doubt is greeted with a West Country "Oi foind ure lack of faith disturbin'."
