With Christmas just a few days away, I thought it might be fun to host a movie quiz.

However, because I’m such a helpful fellow, I’m going to give you the answers before you even start. All you have to do is match those answers to the clues, but be warned, you’ll have to think literally, laterally (and perhaps even squint a bit) to stand a chance of scoring 100%.

Here’s an example of how to match the clue to the movie title.
CLUE: Our planet is not a French egg.

ANSWER: The World is Not Enough

What sick, twisted logic brings us to that conclusion?
Well, I’m glad you asked. The French for ‘an egg’ is ‘un oeuf’ which gives you: ‘Our planet is not un oeuf.’ From there, you change ‘Our planet’ to ‘The World’ and Bob’s your uncle, you’ve found the matching movie title.

I've set out the clues in the form of a poll. Each movie title matches one of the clues. All you have to do is copy and paste your answer into each text box. NB: Once you click on the ‘Submit poll’ button, you won’t be able to go back and change your answers.

You'll need an LJ account to take part, but they're free).

Poll #1658819 Each clue refers to one of the fifteen movies listed below. Copy and paste your answer into each text box
This poll is closed.

1: I asked the cannibal if he was happy to have devoured the girl. He said he was [_____]

2: If you say ‘Ouch!’ part of you usually feels like this.

3: In Spain, John flapped his wings and soared above the clock-bird’s home.

4: A coward in a sprint race

5: Have a nap in pirate’s treasure

6: Examine the lady’s gizmo

7: Jesus’s grandad might be known as this

8: The casual way to greet midday

9: An stereotypical Italian would tell you this if his deity was unwell

10: 22 over 7 from the USA

11: His majesty telling untruths would be known as this

12: Saw the lady’s fella

13: Locating the owner of the Nautilus

14: Where the British Pop star, originally named Harry Webb, would keep his aeroplane

15: The time when you can hear owls calling

Here are fifteen movie titles: THE TWO TOWERS; SPIDERMAN; SLEEPING BEAUTY; SAW; ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST; THE LION KING; INSPECTOR GADGET; HIGH NOON; GODZILLA; THE GODFATHER; GLADIATOR; FINDING NEMO; CLIFFHANGER; CHICKEN RUN; AMERICAN PIE

If you don’t recognize someone’s name in one of the clues, a quick Google search will tell you their alter-ego. If you have any questions, just leave a comment.

The first one to ‘vote’ all 15 answers correctly gets an I are a writer! mug and a Fur-Face CD combo. I'll also give a second combo prize to a random contestant who also gets 100% correct (if that happens. Mwaahaahaar!).

The quiz poll closes on Monday, December 27th at noon (US/Eastern). I’ll post the answers and announce the winners the following day.

Have fun!

The poll is now closed. If you'd like to see the correct answers, you can find them here

Hey, if someone were to order the CDrom/mug combo today,
would they/could they receive it by friday?

And Fur-face is still not available in paperback, right?

I posted a list of gift-wrapable books that can still arrive in time for gift-wrapping;
if Fur-face meets those criteria, I can include it.

Hi Stacy,

I can certainly get to the post office today, and the parcels go the US equivalent of first class, but I'm not sure it'd get there by Friday.

No news on the print version as yet, I'm afraid.

It's probably best if you give it some time, anyway.
Exactly the sort of thing to do after work.

I did half of them before I realized you had the answers at the bottom. Hey, I'm a man, reading directions isn't my strong suit.

That was fun! I had to guess at 5 and 15, but it was a process of elimination so I guess I had 50% chance of guessing right!

Thanks for taking my mind off being ill... :-)

I hope that actually took, because I accidentally hit return instead of tab about halfway along and hit "back" as soon as I did.

Anyway, Happy Holidays, Jon!
