Thrilled as I am to congratulate my writerly friends on their successes, or even to get the occasional acceptance my own self, I'm even more delighted to share the news that my son just got accepted for The College of New Jersey, class of 2015, his preferred choice.

Already way smarter than me, I've always said that if he ends up with his mother's good looks and her brains, he'll do alright for himself. He's a hard-working, intelligent young man who makes his dear old dad proud.

Of course, it's going to be tough explaining how I'm still only 29 when my son's going to college, but I'll think of something. In the meantime, color me chuffed

I'm making the most of the good feelings now. Tomorrow, we have to start figuring out how to pay for it :)

Thanks, Mike. I left school at sixteen. I'm so glad he takes after his mum :)

Congrats to your son!

That is right around where I grew up, although it was called Trenton State College then. I understand that institution has really made great strides in the last couple of decades and has bolstered its national reputation significantly. :-)

Thanks, Amy. It seems highly thought of. Senior Management took him along for the open day. She says the setting is beautiful :)

Congratulations! Chuffness is well deserved.

And ... always nice to have his first place -- accepted! -- be not so very far away.

It's far enough that he can feel independent, but close enough to come home at weekends if he wants to :)
