Yay! It’s the start of SAFEFYB week!

Do you ever browse through some of your older posts and find yourself thinking, ‘This is good, but I really don’t remember writing it?’ I do, far too often in fact.

Over the weekend, while browsing through some old journal entries, I came across a jokey rant about Shakespeare I made last December. The weird thing is that, while I remember writing a lighthearted entry about the world’s most productive playwright, I’d forgotten most of the actual content.

It’s a fun little post (even if I do say so myself). If you’d like to read it, you can find it here:

Who does that Shakespeare Bloke think he is?

I’m sure I’m not the only one with a good blog post gathering dust in the archives, so I thought this would be a good time to host another SAFE FYB (Share a Favorite Entry From Your Blog) week.

If you’ve got a golden oldie you’d like to share, post a link to it in the comments for other folks to read. Throughout the week, I’ll cut & paste those links here.

msstacy13  shared this great post from November, 2009: Slender Pretenders Beware!

slweippert  shared this one, also from 2009:
Either I'm insane or a masochist

tracy_d74  chose a more recent post:
Saturday letter...

writerjenn shared this funny entry from a few months back: Letter from the muse

Carol J. Garvin chose Novelum Interruptus from July 2009

Not sure what to post about in your own journal?

Why not host a SAFE FYB week on your own blog too? If you do, let me know and I’ll share a link to that too.

Slender Pretenders Beware! has been consistently cited as the best piece of satire I've ever written.

You can read the object of my satire, Gender Benders Beware! for comparison.

Great post, Stacy :)

Mind you, I confess I didn't realize it was satire.

Thank you.
They say that's a sign of truly good satire;
and quite a few people who hadn't seen the original
didn't realize it was satire, either.

And maybe next week, you could have SAFE FYI,
with everyone sharing a favourite safety tip...

Lol :)

Looking back through my early posts I found.....that I am boring. :D

I did find one that was mildly amusing about writing being a masochistic hobby.

There may be other gems in there, but shifting through the rest left me depressed. Your blog is much more interesting than mine Jon.

Why would they make you feel depressed?

My 2009 has lots of posts that are only daily wordcounts. I am so boring and I had no idea! They get better, at least I think they do, but it's depressing just how boring I was then.

Not at all :)

My Saturday Letter about deleting a chapter was fun to write. I remember your Shakespeare one...it was great fun.

Good choice :)

Thanks! (It's the only thing I could think of at the moment.)

They're both great, but if you're asking me to choose, I'd go with the letter :)

I sympathize with the memory quirk... every so often I go back and am surprised to find my name on something I don't remember writing. Makes me wonder about encroaching dementia! An old blog post of mine that people still seem to remember had to do with a mosquito's sex life: http://wp.me/phaYw-f7

Good one, Carol, and bonus points for using latin in the title ;)

I often look through all sorts of things that I've written (not just blog posts) and realise I have no memory of having actually written it. Isn't there a medical term for that ;O)

Yep,'plaigarism' :)
