Earlier this year, I launched FINDAWRITINGGROUP.COM aka FAWG.
FAWG is a free to join/free to use online network which writers of all genres and skill levels from anywhere in the world can use to find or promote a writing group (or simply connect with other writers), in their own country/state through a network of Yahoo groups.
I'd like to say a huge 'Thank you' to everyone who's contributed to the network in some way, in particular those folks who either started a Yahoo group for the network or linked an existing one with us.
Here's a list of the FAWG groups or affiliates currently available (all of them are in the USA):
ALABAMA run by Aimee Love
CALIFORNIA run by Jenny Hilborne
COLORADO run by Julie Campbell
FLORIDA run by Debi Matlack
LOUSIANA run by Amanda Heroman
MASSACHUSETTS run by Carly Carlson
MARYLAND run by Morgan Quinn
NEW JERSEY run by Jon Gibbs
PENNSYLVANIA coming soon
If you live in one of the above states, please consider joining your local FAWG Yahoo Group.
If you live in a country or state not listed above, why not start a FAWG group yourself? It's easy to set one up (even easier to link an existing Yahoo Group). You can even find step-by-step instructions on the main website (here).
I post a brief bio of FAWG moderators, along with a link to their website/blog/sales page etc. on the 'Find A Writing Group' page at FindAWritingGroup.com.
We also have a FAWG community, here on Live Journal, which anyone is welcome to join (I'll be posting a two-part interview with award winning writer, Jonathan Maberry, there next week) in).
By the way, I'm still looking at the 'Critiquee's Charter' and the 'Critiquer's Promise' (which I want to post on the FAWG website). I'm having a little challenge with the latter, but I hope to have more on that next week.
I'm always looking for ways to improve the network. If you've any suggestions/thoughts on what's helpful/not helpful, I'd love to hear from you (especially if something's holding you back from setting up/taking part in a FAWG group in your own country/state).
