Fur-Face CD/I are a writer! MUGS: Laura, please get in touch.
I got another order for the Fur-Face CD/I are a writer! mug offer in the mail yesterday. The envelope had a Florida postmark. It contained $13 in cash, along with a lovely note from someone named Laura, telling me not to worry about the 5 cents in change.

If you're reading this, Laura, thanks for the order, unfortunately, you forgot to tell me your surname or where I'm supposed to send it. Please email me to let me know: jon@acatofninetales.com.

$6.00 at personal appearances or delivered anywhere
in the USA for just $12.95 (incl tax and P&P)

YA Bloggers wanted
After a lot of thought, I've decided to give up my regular columns at The Apex Book Company's blog and YAAYNHO (Young Adult Authors You've Never Heard Of). I had fun writing for them, but I want to focus a bit more on writerly type writing - I'll continue to post a regular(ish) column over at Flash Fiction Chronicles.

YAAYNHO is run by my friend, Christine Norris. If you're a Young Adult/Middle Grade writer and interested in writing a regular blog column, please contact her for more information at
christinenorris02@gmail.com.

That's me updated.

One last thought:
NANOWRIMO seems like a popular annual event. A lot of my friends seem to be taking part, but I've never taken the plunge myself.

How about you?

Did you go for NANOWRIMO this year?

Yes, I do it every year!

This year I decided to do Mini NaNoWriMo - committing to writing 150 words a day (you could pick your commitment, with a minimum of 100 words a day), every day, for November. I can't commit to NaNo properly - I don't write at that speed. If I'm doing well and on a role, I might hit 1000 words in a day. Last summer, on a really Good Week, I hit 10,000 or so for the week. And was shattered. Doing more than that, for four weeks on the go...no thank you! But trying to write every day is a good habit, and one I needed to get back into, so hopefully this will help with that :-)

I like to ride the NaNoWriMo enthusiasm, but there's no way that I could do 50000 words in 30 days.

Last year I set myself the target of a half-NaNo, this year I'm supposed to be doing a quarter NaNo -- though I haven't actually had time to start yet because I have other important projects to get underway.

When NaNoWriMo was new, a bunch of us set up IWriSloMo (either International Write Slowly Month or I Write In Slo Motion, whichever you prefer). It started life as a mailing list, but it's now a community here on LJ.

Anyone reading this is very welcome to come and join us at iwrislomo
