Yay! It’s the start of M&M Week

Back in May, I thought it might be fun to host some kind of networking tea and crumpets/soda and chips event here on An Englishman in New Jersey, where people could meet other folks with the same kind of writing interests.

I called it Mix and Mingle week.

It was a lot of fun, so I thought I'd do another one.

Here’s how it works:
I’m very lucky to have lots of talented, wisdomous, writerly friends. Many of these good people share common interests, but don’t know each other...yet. Not all of them are on Live Journal. Some have accounts (or in the case of LJ users, additional accounts) on Twitter, Facebook, Blogspot etc.

If you’re interested in making some new writer friends, share a few words about yourself and your writing, along with a link to your website, Wordspace, Blogspot, Facebook, Twitter accounts etc. where folks can find out more about you and your work, then add/follow/friend you on the relevant platforms if they so desire.

If you don’t have an LJ account, you can still take part via an anonymous comment, but don’t forget to include your name.

Of course, it’s up to you, but this is ‘Mix and Mingle’ not ‘Find a Fan’ week, so I recommend sticking to general info: how long you’ve been writing; what you usually blog about; preferred genre; favorite authors etc.

As for me, I’m looking forward to finding out more about my friends.

Have fun. Now, where did I put those teabags?

Jon, such the party animal. (Oh! I pinged your Puddle contest on my page yesterday...Well, it was part of a bigger post, but maybe it will send people your way. Not that you don't get plenty of people clamoring to your site.)

Anyhoo...I'm Tracy. I write YA, speculative, fantasy, mystical. Oh, and contemporary. My LJ ( tracy-d74.livejournal.com ) page has stuff about my writing journey. I write stuff about how psychological concepts are seen in writing (hoping to help writers--namely me--strengthen their stories). (Oh, I'm a psychologist by day.) I love to bake, so every now and again baking and cooking tips pop up on my page. I love to read, so every now and again I will talk about a book I LOVE.

(I do believe most of your flist knew this about me.)

Nice. Though the baking part sounds dangerous...

I write primarily fantasy as well, but for a more adult audience. Tried YA and Children's but I can't seem to write below a 6th grade reading level, and the content is usually at least PG13 or above. Oh well...each to their strengths!

Well, I work with children and teens, so it helps. But if I'm honest, I probably chose to work with that group so I can justify my love of animated films and MG and YA books. And YA a lot of YA is PG-13 and some pushes the boundaries of that. It ain't what it was when I was a little one. :)

You've got that right! When parents ask what age group my books are for I ask them what they let them read now...most of the time mine is tame based on some of the YA out there.

Hehehehe! Yep, every few months I post the invitation for people to ask me anything about psychology or disorders. And I try to have a series on something each month. I've been talking about the theories related to motivation the last two weeks. I have at least one more post to do for that one. I've talked about conflict. I've talked about different disorders. Hmmm? And other stuff...I can't recall.

Hi there, your journal seems really interesting. I'm intrigued by the stuff about psychological concepts in writing. Also impressed by people with mad baking & cooking skillz ;) Mind if I add you?

Come on over! (I must say, today's post does not show off my mad baking skills...but it does offer a good treat.)

My husband is a counselor and I've learned a lot about juvenile behavior from him (from his work - though his behavior...lol). But psychological concepts in writing sounds really interesting.
