Anyone else use Netflix?

I signed up to Netflix this week after chatting to some of my GSHW friends at the post-meeting munch & chinwag following the excellent talk on anthologies from guest speaker, Danielle Ackley-McPhail (aka damcphail).

So far, I've only used the instant streaming option, which we can watch through the Wii, but I'm very impressed.

Anyone else use Netflix?  Or is there something out there that's even better?

I've been using Netflix for a couple years & really like it. I also have an Apple TV & I frequently watch movies off that as well.

There are just so many things to choose from these days :)

I never bothered with Netflix because I don't think I would use them enough to justify the cost. If you know you want to watch a lot of movies, I know folks who love it.

I figured there are lots of TV shows, like Lost, which I've never seen. Most of the episodes are on that instant stream thingy, so I'll get to watch them first before deciding whether it's worth splashing out on the DVDs.

I've never heard anyone complain about Netflix,
except that they don't have time to watch all the movies they can afford.

"Better" is a relative/conditonal term.
I get movies free from the library,
but I can't usually get them until six months after they've been released
on DVD...

We've also found it easy to cancel and then re-up our subscription during periods.

That's good to know. Thanks, Barbara :)

Optimum has a Free on Demand service. It seems a bit like that.

I used Netflix for a couple of years before we started paying for a DVR here at the house (kind of like TiVo for those of you who don't know). If you use it on a regular basis, it's quite worth the monthly fee. We enjoyed it.

Love my Netflix. Don't even have a television - watch instantly through my computer & movies on my DVD projector. Movie NIGHT is AWESOME.

Hubby and I started using Netflix about a month ago... We've had 3 movies shipped back and forth (4th arrives on Monday). I watched 6 movies alone yesterday (home sick on the couch). Let alone, we've both been watching lots of different series like I found Seaquest (squee!), The Last Airbender (the cartoon series), and hubby has found a bunch of military history ones along with current ones like Mythbusters. It's a little addicting but really we both use it for 'company' while we do other things like craft and play video games. :) We both love it!

I got Netflix in July. I don't watch much tv or movies, but I wanted to see all of Star Trek TNG straight through. Then I got hooked on Dr Who.

We have the cheapest plan - only two hours of streaming and two discs a month, but since I don't have a lot of time, I don't mind much. Next time I'm home sick with the flu I might regret that decision. :)

I've also been watching Hulu a lot. I'd prefer not to see commercials, but then, it is free, and it's fewer than if I were watching the shows on the tv.

I didn't know there was a time limit. I'll have to check that out.

I love Netflix. I don't know what I'd do without it, probably never watch anything, lol. It's been absolutely brilliant for marathoning TV shows I never got around to watching.

I used to use Blockbuster Online, because you could exchange the DVDs at the store for free, if you had a movie you wanted to watch right then and couldn't wait three days for the mail. But... all the Blockbuster stores around here closed, so it's vastly less useful.

Plus, I love the streaming feature, now that I have a laptop where such things don't freeze and buffer every 10 seconds. :)

I'm looking forward to catching up on Doctor Who - we can't get BBC America here :(

It seems very quick. I ordered Prince of Persia last night and got an email this morning telling me it had been shipped and that I'd have it by Monday.

I don't have netflix, but after reading all the reviews, I just might get a subscription.

Enjoy Prince of Persia!

The Wire! Netflix the Wire!

We don't have cable, so we only use netflix or hulu.com. Netflix is great, and the Wire is a really topnotch show :D.

Instant streaming is what we use the most of. Our regular (satellite) tellevision watching is almost nonexistant now, thanks to the Roku box I bought my husband for his birthday in July. We're watching Stargate:SG1 this very moment. Best $90 I ever spent on him.
