Thanks for the "ink."

You have another fine assortment here. I like that you show both sides of the self-publishing debate— when it works and when it doesn't. The reading out loud one was a good recap of the reasons to do that.

You're welcome, Karen. Self-publishing's not a route I'd take, but I'm not opposed to it in principal. I just think there are a lot of scam artists out wanting to take advantage of writers who want to create the best quality product they can, and too many writers out there who don't think quality's important.

A great harvest this week! I especially enjoyed the one on commenting on public stories and the one on author readings.

Well, at least one person seems to think that authors have to give back their advances if they don't sell enough to cover the advance. Not true.

I agreed with your comment about reading aloud. More and more I'm finding this a help.

The "why self-publishing" had a number of inaccuracies and faulty arguments.

And yes, the comment about reading aloud is very helpful. I've been doing that a lot myself for the current project.

Thanks, Jon!

Thanks for the linkage. Also, for letting me know that Greg Frost has an LJ identity. I've taken several workshops with him at the Philadelphia Writers' Conference over the years, and I think he's marvelous.

What a great list! I haven't read it all, but of what I've seen my favorite so far is Victoria's "Publishing is not a crapshoot" Do you put this sort of thing together every week? Way cool. Thank you.

I liked them too. It's funny how we can prove/justify almost anything to ourselves if we manipulate the numbers a certain way.
