Aside from those good folks at The Blood Red Pencil, I think Nathan Bransford's one of the most consistently ingteresting writing blogs around. No wonder he gets a million visitors a year.

Sorry they're a bit late. Senior Management's been off work with a bad back for a couple of days. For some reason, she seems to think that means I have to run around after her :)

You're a good Junior Management person. (I'm reading the Editorial Ass post right this moment. Faboo.)

That list of things agents and writers can do is very good. I'd definitely appreciate all the agent ones, and as a writer, I'd be happy to comply with the writer ones.

Isn't it strange how much of that sort of advice seems so obvious, even though we (or at least I) didn't think of it at the time?

I was just a few days ago telling someone to start
with the oatmeal boiling over, basically,
and explain about the water and the gas and the oats
after you have the reader going,
"Oh, my god, the oatmeal boiled over. In the first paragraph!"

A lot of those were really interesting, funny &/or informative. My favorite is definitely Nathan Bransford's though. I about died reading his Yoda writing. :D

The "Be a sadist" entry was good; I enjoyed the Vonnegut tape.

I'd hear Vonnegut's list before, but it was intersting listening to him read it.

Excellent links as usual. Chuck Sambuchino's site is one I get regular updates from, and it's so worth it.
