My son is less wisdomous than he was

Just got back from the dentist with my son, who now weighs a little less than he did, thanks to the six (yes, six) wisdom teeth he just had removed.

Poor lad. He looked so sad, with his little face staring out from inside the stretchy head bandage they used to hold the icepacks to his cheeks. I just don’t have the heart to post the picture I took.

I just bought lots of ice cream, which should speed up the recovery process :)

Custard is good, too,
if you or Senior Management are up to cooking it.

Ouch. Hope he recovers well.

How severely impacted were they?

Not sure, on the x-ray, the two spares seemed to be trying to push their predecessors out of the way.

I just hope they were clean pulls,
with no bits of broken bone.
That's when the recovery is worst.

And I hope you kept them,
because it feels good,
still having all of one's teeth,
even if a few of them are in a little box.

He could wear them around his neck, like I do with my old gran's dentures :)

They'd make excellent cuff links
for Hallowee'en and Mardi Gras.

Poor little guy. And the beauty of feeling sympathy now (taking pic but not posting it) is you have another embarrassing photo for his 21st :) That's plain good parenting, really

Wow - six! On the plus side, he's got a tale to tell! I don't think I've ever heard of coming home from the dentist with ice packs, though. I remember when I had my four out - all I got was a bit of gauze in my mouth & meds for when I got home.

I think ice is pretty standard now, they have those weird 'Fold & pop' ones which you can't refreeze.

It was back in 2003 so not too long ago. I'll have to ask my husband about it. Could be I just don't remember. I was very out of it for hours afterwards.

Apparently I kept begging to use the bathroom and they didn't want to let me go until they were sure I was awake enough. I kept promising I'd come right back for the surgery and was flabbergasted when they told me it was already over. Wish someone had had a video camera. :D

'...and was flabbergasted when they told me it was already over.'

Lol, I imagine it would have come as quite a shock :)

Six!

I still have four of mine. I had one dentist look them over and he said about one of them, 'It'll be too painful to have that one out. Not worth the bother.' (Bent roots and all)

Of course, my current dentist insists that it'll have to go some day.

Something to look forward to :)

But I'm a coward! Your son--obviously!--is not.

He's a brave lad, though he occasionally baulks when it comes to facing scary household chores ;)
