For the last week or so, I've been slaving away over the hot manuscript (Barnum's Revenge). On Friday, knowing I had a busy weekend ahead, I decided to hold off answering emails until today.

Big mistake.

I've just about finished wading through over 450 emails. About two-thirds of them were Yahoo group or Twitter-based, but there were more than enough regular emails to keep me busy for  hours.

In future, I'll make sure I keep on top of things.

That'll teach ya. Never ignore the Intarwebs. It must consume you night and day. Wait til they figure out how to hook you up in your sleep, then you'll be answering emails in your dreams.

On the bright side, I'm grateful people want to send me emails :)

Outlook auto-sorts my emails into folders, so I can safely ignore huge chunks of them, or at least dismiss them at a glance. Way better than wading through all the advertising emails and possibly missing an actual personal message! Though for some reason, every LJ notification seems to show up twice in its folder, but not on my phone. Weird.

That's weird about LJ notifications. I only seem to get about 70% of mine :(

Maybe the universe is doubling up on mine in order to make up for your missing ones.

The Yahoo Group you can change it so you only get an update once a week, and the Twitter ones I send to spam. If I want to know who started following me, I check the website.

I usually manage to keep on top of things in five/ten minute chunks throughout the day.

Email is a spiteful mistress--she will not be ignored.

The fellow feeling, it burns... though mine are at work, about 350 of them and nearly every single one needs a long and complicated answer...

{sigh}

Ouch! At least the majority of mine are either read and delete or simply delete.

Yep! This is why I love having email access on my phone. First thing and last thing in the day, I check in and make sure I filter out the crap immediately.

Lesson learned. I'm still recovering from that time I slacked off on my emails and messages.

Hee! I haven't figured out how to get notices fro, FB yet, except for when people respond to a post that I've replied to... The major reason I caved and joined was, I have family members on there. I have found some nifty humor though, most particularly George Takei's. Also something about a rat's arse.
