Makin' Progress

Work on Barnum's Revenge (the sequel to Fur-Face) continues apace.

Today I passed the 25K mark. Fur-Face clocked in at around 53K. I'm expecting a similar wordcount this time around, which means I'm getting close to the halfway mark.

Here's a teeny-tiny snippet (the opening lines from Chapter Three - A Rude Awakening):

As screams go, it wasn’t the most manly, but what it lacked in testosterone, it certainly made up for in volume. The instant Snowy raked his claws across the sole of Doctor Euston’s foot, a high-pitched squeal of anguish, like an especially girly steam whistle, echoed around the room.

How about you?

What's the status of your current WiP?

eh, I stalled out months ago on the 4th draft of my WiP. My wife and I discussed a scheduling plan for weekends though, where I ditch her with the kids for a few hours every Saturday to get a solid block of uninterrupted writing time.

Being *this* close to having it polished and ready to submit has kept me from developing my next manuscript past the rough outline stage.

You know, I have a theory about those WiPs which are 'this' close. I call them 'Schrodinger's novels.' I plan to post about it soon :)

Theorizing when a WiP becomes finished? Or whether it can be alive and dead at the same time? :)

I was all set to hear about your trip to Geogia.
*blink*

Not Macon progress...

Very nice sample...

I'm waiting for a few more opinions on
Brothers, Keepers, Losers, Weepers
before deciding if it needs revision or not...

And I'm still moving slowly if I move at all on
A Citizen of London.

And I haven't even started making the cinnamon rolls yet...

The status of my current WIP? I'll let you know, as son as it sends me a postcard. I think it went on a Bermuda Triangle cruise.

Sounds like you're making great progress! I'm near 13,000 words on my MG fantasy, and am aiming for 30,000, though it might be longer.

Please tell me Snowy isn't attacking Billy's parents!

Lol, nothing like that. He just needed to wake Bill's dad up :)

Holy FRACK. "grisly steam whistle" Yes, I can hear that! (Yes, wish I'd written that. LOL)

I just got my fantasy synopsis, which started at a mazillion pages, down to one. Finally. And I'm busy shaving 5,000 words off of the dark paranormal. So much fun! Not. LOL :)

Thanks, Stephe.

Those synopsis thingies aren't easy to write, are they? :)

In my most humble opinion, "synopsis" is an "F" word. LOL! :)
