I've had to miss the last two meetings due to other commitments, but I'm looking forward to this month's GSHW  get-together at East Brunswick Library (Saturday, July 9th).

I last saw our guest speaker, Lawrence Connolly, back in 2008. He gave an interesting and most entertaining talk on building tension in writing. This time, he's doing a talk on multi-media writing.

The presentation will provide nuts-and-bolts information on techniques that writers can use when creating and promoting their work.

If you'd like to come along, I'd love to see you there. The group meeting starts at 11:00am. Lawrence starts his talk at noon. After the meeting, we'll all head off to the local diner for some nosh and a good chinwag.

Lawrence Connolly is an author and a musician. His latest musical project, "Veins, the Soundtrack", is based on his own highly acclaimed supernatural thriller "Veins". For more information, visit his website:

The GSHW is a multi-genre group catering to writers from all walks of life. The group has hosted presentations by authors such as Elizabeth Bear, Gregory Frost, and F. Paul Wilson.

Membership is $35.00 per year. For more information, check out the group's website (www.gshw.net).

I wish I could come but it's a long way for me. I loved Veins and Vipers and even have the sound track...

I got to meet him just after I read Veins, and I think only a few of us at teh signing had read the book - so I had to ask all my questions without giving anything away.

I was like "That thing that Axel does, the second to last thing, when he said he had something he had to do? Was that the thing in the right in the begining?"

and

"The thing with the car? Isn't that exactly how Axel found it?"

I think I got my questions answered without ruining the story for everyone there.

His story in the anthology "The Stories Between" was awesome
